Overview
Metapod is a Bug-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Caterpie and later evolves into Butterfree. Metapod is known for its hard shell, limited movement, and role as a transitional cocoon stage in its evolution line.
Metapod spends much of its time protecting its soft body while it prepares to evolve. Its tough outer shell helps it survive attacks, but it is not very mobile and often relies on defense.
Biology
Metapod resembles a green chrysalis with a crescent-shaped body, angular shell plates, and sleepy-looking eyes. Inside its shell, its body is changing as it prepares to become Butterfree. Its shell is very hard, but sudden impacts may still damage the soft body inside.
